A Songwriting Scene Challenge — come on, all you songwriters!

A couple of weeks back, I mentioned the possibility of a songwriting challenge on the Songwriting Scene Facebook page. My good friend, songwriter Meg Braun, helped me come up with what I think is a fun idea!

This is your (and my) songwriting mission, if you choose to accept it:
Write a song with the title of a book in the lyrics.
Simple, right? Hmm…:)
The songwriting challenge deadline is SEPTEMBER 1.
If you’d like to share your completed song, feel free to post video/lyrics to the Facebook page, and/or send me video/audio/lyrics or links to the following address: songwritingscene at gmail.com. I can share some results here on the blog.
Please do comment here and let me know if you’re up for the challenge!

OK – Just found this site and this challenge. I've hit a dry spot in my writing, so I'm taking you up on it. Thanks!

Fabulous! Keep us updated on your progress…I'm still pondering mine!

So down with this. But to make it a real challenge you need to give yourself an interesting title. Anyone can write a song with a one-word title like "Shame" in it. Something like "The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds" is a bit tougher.

Darn, I've been writing a book mentioning many of my song titles, I didn't think about doing it the other way around: "Lalalalalala…talkin' 'bout Zennnnnnnn…and the art of the Midlife Crisis…yeah."

Just last night, I actually finished my song – "The Hour of the Outlaw." If the recording gods cooperate I will post it tonight. Thanks for the kick in the rear!

awesome, Erin! So glad to hear it…looking forward to hearing it! Feel free to send an MP3 and lyrics…or just lyrics if you post the MP3 elsewhere.
