I’m finishing up my packing for WinterSongs, the winter-weekend version of SummerSongs — a “camp” for songwriters I’ve written about often. I’ll be headed out in a couple of hours to drive to beautiful Ashokan, NY (about a half-hour from Woodstock), stopping in Manhattan along the way to pick up a new attendee named Rachel, who I met recently at the Manhattan Songwriters Circle. I’ve been looking forward to this for months, so I can’t wait to hit the road!
Have you ever attended a songwriting camp, retreat or workshop? I’d love to find out more, so pass the information along! These are some other great options that I know about, if you’d like to make some summer plans that include songwriting!
Rocky Mountain Song School: Held in Colorado as part of a series of bluegrass and folk festivals, Song School sounds amazing — come on, they’ve got Jonatha Brooke on board as staff this year!
Swannanoa Gathering Contemporary Folk Week: Yes, it’s “folk,” but there’s lots of songwriting happening here…I’ve heard some amazing things, and my friend Abbie Gardner (of Red Molly) will be teaching!
NSAI Song Camp: I don’t know that much about this one, but NSAI is a highly respected organization so I’m sure it’s terrific…check out this 3-day intensive!
Do comment if you know of any others! Okay…gotta go now and hit the songwriting road…talk to y’all next week!
