Okay, everyone — it’s time for a new songwriting challenge!
August is right around the corner: Okay, it’s tomorrow. Things can slow down during the “dog days” of August…your body, from the heat; your brain, from the humidity (did you know your brain melts during the summer? Ha ha).
So in honor of this melt-y month, I propose a new Songwriting Scene “Dog Days of August” challenge: Write a song this month with the word “August” (the month, not the ADJECTIVE) in it; or a summer-themed tune.
Your due date? August 31. That gives you four-and-a-half weeks to finish a brand-new song — plenty of time even when you feel like you’re moving slowly through air like molasses.
Here’s the rules… if you want to fully be a part of this challenge:
- Again, you must have the word “August” appear in the song — OR, you need to have a summer theme.
- You must be able to — or figure out — how to record the song and upload it as an MP3 file.
- You must e-mail the song and lyrics to songwritingscene@gmail.com.
- You must *also* e-mail me a JPG photo of yourself as well as your name, city you live in, and your website address (if you have one, no worries if not).
- If you have any questions: Again, e-mail me at songwritingscene@gmail.com.
Okay, who’s in? I am! Come on…commit!
