EVERYWHERE
(c) 2010, V. Cox
See the shape of my hand
It looks the same as yours
Yet I can’t understand
The things you could use it for
My hand, your hand
Feeling, I’m out outmanned
Pass blame, play your game
Go ahead and take your aim, cause
I’m everywhere
In your schools, and in your armies
I’m everywhere
In your churches, and in your movies
I’m everywhere
On your streets and in your office buildings
Take a look, can’t you see?
I’m everywhere
See the whites of my eyes
They stare as hard as yours
Use them to criticise
Is something knocking at your door?
My eyes, your eyes
Seeing, you think you’re wise
Pass blame, play the game
Go ahead and take your aim, cause
I’m everywhere
In your government, on your sports teams
I’m everywhere
In your courts, and on your tvs
I’m everywhere
I’m your neighbor, your child, your sibling
Take a look at me
I’m everywhere
I’m your doctor, your lawyer, your mother, sister, father, brother,
Your carpenter, your banker, your neighbor, your police officer
Your college buddy, your star player, your preacher, your teacher
care taker, your boss, your employee,
That’s me
I’m everywhere
In your government, and in your armies
I’m everywhere
In your churches, in your universities
I’m everywhere
I’m your neighbor, your child, your sibling
Take a look at me
(I’m everywhere)
Take a look at me
(I’m everywhere)
Take a look, can’t you see
I’m everywhere
So I Sing To You
Helen Austin
All alone I’m sitting in the park and
You know you really left your mark on me
On me
It’s not that I knew you very well but
You had that look and I could tell you see
You see
Chorus
You didn’t even know my name
But I loved you just the same
You didn’t even know I knew
What else could I do
So I sing to you
I sing to you
On the TV or a magazine
You had a way of stealing every scene
I cried the day you died
Now every channel that I turn to
Talks about how you never learned to say no
You should have said no
Chorus
So I sing to you
Chorus
All alone I’m sitting in the park
I’m still here it’s getting really dark
I should go
I should go
But I wanna sing to you
Sing to you
So I sing to you
Home Town On Parade
2010 T.C. Elliott
I smashed my thumb in a windowsill
At that big church up on 10th street hill
Where I got a shot in my ass
So I could start second grade
And this is my home town on parade
And now I’m passing Lover’s Lane
The worst street to ever have the name
There was no place to park
No place to get laid
And this is my home town on parade
I use to walk to Berjuan park
I would drink vodka in the dark
I’d go there with my friends
Whenever we got paid
This is my home town on parade
And now I wonder why
I felt I had to leave
Being here once again
I get lost in my memories
And there’s the place I almost died
In the back of a pickup. What a ride!
Being chased by rednecks
In a Chevrolet
And this is my home town on parade
My First Summer job
Brian K. Kendig
My first summer job was down on the boardwalk
working the grill for minimum wage
Six days a week long crazy hours
I didn’t complain ’cause I lied ’bout my age
And I worked like never before
Don’t want to work like that no more
I shared an apartment with three other fellas
two blocks from the beach on the second floor
We’d give our neighbor money for liquor
he’d buy it for us and leave it outside our door
And I drank like never before
Don’t want to drink like that no more
We were learning how to get by
Testing our wings trying to fly
When you got hurt there was no time to cry
Just pick yourself up from the floor
Go out and try it some more
I had a crush on one of the servers
She always seemed to work on my shift
She had a car so when we worked late
She always asked if I needed a lift
And I loved like never before
I’d like to find a love like that once more
We were learning how to get by
Testing our wings trying to fly
When you got hurt there was no time to cry
Just pick yourself up from the floor
Go out and try it some more
Packed Bags Blues
Sharon Goldman
I got my bags packed baby, ain’t nothing gonna make me change my mind
I got my bags packed baby, ain’t nothin gonna make me change my mind
Unless you smile that pretty smile
That always makes me wanna follow you for miles
I’ll lock the door behind me and I’ll throw away my key
Yeah, I’ll lock the door behind me and I’ll throw away my own key
Unless you think of something sweet to say
That’ll makes me forget all about yesterday
I’ve got my sneakers on, they’re tied and ready to run
Yeah I’ve got my sneakers on, honey, they’re tied and ready to run
Unless you get down on one knee with a diamond ring
Big enough to make me sing yeahhhhhh….
