Are your lyrics lacking? Is your melody mundane? Or perhaps you haven’t put pen to paper in weeks…months…or even years?
If you want to change all that, consider SongwritingScene.com‘s 4-week teleseminar that will get your creative juices flowing and your songwriting muse moving again. This intimate course, with only 10 spots available, will offer a wide range of pre-writing creativity exercises, songwriting assignments and individualized, constructive feedback from your instructor, Pat Wictor, as well as your fellow songwriting students. By the end of the month, you will have a finished song under your belt!
Pat Wictor is a critically-acclaimed touring singer-songwriter, guitarist and recording artist, known around the country for his heartfelt folk, blues and roots-based original music, his slide guitar work, as well as his unique twists on songs by other artists. In addition, in 1999 he founded the Manhattan Songwriters Circle, a bi-monthly songwriting feedback group, and continues to serve as its driving force. He also teaches private students by appointment in his home in Brooklyn, NY and will serve as a songwriting/guitar instructor at SummerSongs, the songwriting summer camp in Ashokan, NY, from August 6-12. Wictor was honored as a 2007 finalist in the Kerrville Folk Festival’s New Folk Competition, and he was nominated by the International Folk Alliance as Emerging Artist of the Year. In 2006 his song “Love is the Water” was nominated for Gospel Song of the Year in the Independent Music Awards, and the audience at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival voted him a “Most Wanted” emerging artist. Course requirements:
This is an intermediate-level songwriting course – it is not a beginner class (we hope to offer an introductory course very soon!). To register, we require the following:
- You must have the ability to accompany your song on a chordal instrument (guitar, piano, organ, autoharp, dulcimer, etc.)
- You must be able to record your work (with a simple digital recorder) and upload an MP3 file
- You must be available to dial-in to a conference call line at the appointed class time each week. (NOTE: This is a long-distance call at your carrier’s normal long-distance rate — it is not a toll-free call [for more information, check out www.freeconferencecall.com])
